We are pleased to invite you to the First Latin American Congress of Physical Activity and Health Research.
The Congress will provide a venue for high-quality scientific knowledge exchange for physical activity and health research in Latin America.
Physical inactivity is a critical risk factor for several chronic diseases, including type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. The burden of physical inactivity is high in Latin America, with one out of three Latin Americans being physically inactive, and 11.4% of deaths being attributable to physical inactivity. Additionally, physical inactivity costs healthcare systems in Latin America 1.3 billion international dollars per year.
Strengthening local, regional, and global research capacity constitutes a critical strategy for improving public health policies, programs and actions for physical activity promotion. The Latin American Congress of Physical Activity and Health Research will be the first scientific meeting of its kind for the region, convening academic experts on physical activity and health from across Latin America, as well as leading field experts from around the globe.
We hope that you can join us at the Congress. It will be an excellent opportunity to share experiences, learn new methods, strengthen existing collaborations and spark new ones, and work together in defining and advancing a strong and unified research agenda for promoting physical activity for all Latin Americans.
